Dianthus belongs to the same family as carnations and hence the 3 cm diameter flowers are made up of 5 petals with frilly ends and have various variegated and plain flowers in multiple colors such as red, pink, salmon, white, and lavender. Dianthus is fragrant and perennial and rather popular among gardeners.
